CTC

(Circulating Tumor Cell)

There are various stages of cancer. Typically, cancer is categorized according to stages 1 to 4 and with 4 being the most serious. These different categories are based on a detailed system which includes tumor information, size, the level of spreading and more.

Research studies have shown that, the prognosis after treatment is somewhat better at an early stage. This is because patients’ body systems are still functioning properly as compared to those in a later stage or had gone through any traumatizing treatments. Therefore, the potential of rapid recovery is high.

In early-stage or stage I cancer, it commonly means that the cancer is small and only in one area. Patients commonly do not experience or show any form of symptoms.  Weight loss, fatigue, palpation or abnormal lumps are normally detected at a later stage.

However, with technology and the continuous development of modern medicine, we don’t have to wait for stage 1 cancer to occur. We can now diagnose cancer from stage zero (0) or pre-start phase with new diagnostic development. Testing should be done on a regular basis and people in general should know the importance of early stages detection.

Kobayashi’s Tumor Marker Combination Analysis (TMCA) is a screening test to find out the biomarkers that have started to develop during the growth of the cancer cells. The test focuses on the inflammation of cells, mutation, division or distribution to other organs. This screening method can pinpoint cancer accurately even at an early stage when the cells only begin to become abnormal.

Circulating Tumor Cell (CTC) is an analysis methodology that finds cancer cells in the blood circulation system. Studies have shown that if CTC is found during the test, there is a chance that the individual has or may develop cancer. This test is so sensitive that CTC can detect cancer even in the initial stages or in a patient who is in remission. It has the capability of detecting all types of cancer.

We at Akesis Life would like to create more awareness of the benefits of having such a test and how it can help change one’s life. This is especially so for those who are in the category of high risk. Research studies have shown that generally people who are at risk are as follows:

  • sedentary lifestyle
  • stress
  • wake up early
  • stay up late
  • work pressure
  • restless
  • poor diet
  • don’t exercise
  • past family history

Every time after cancer treatment the doctor will perform a follow-up examination. This can be done through various methods such as Tumor Marker examination and physical scan. This helps monitor symptoms and detects cancer reversal in patients.

However, even if the patient has been declared as “cancer free”, cells cannot be detected during these routine tests, it does not mean that the body is not at risk of cancer again. This is because in the body there are still hidden cancer cells. If they are left without any treatment, there is a chance that the cell can mutate and turn cancerous.

As mentioned earlier, with modern medical technology, new diagnostic tests have emerged to help prevent the above from happening. Early detection and recurrence prevention are key. With a proven track record, we stand by these diagnostic techniques. At Akesis Life, we believe that cancer treatment is not only about eliminating cancer, but also about effective treatments that improve the quality of life of patients.
